Correcting One’s Destiny (C.O.D.) uses your donations to provide the at-risk youth with various after school programs from tutoring programs to simple recreational programs. We make sure that they have adequate school supplies, we use your funding to pay for the transportation to bus our mentees on the various field trips we provide annually. We also use the donations for clothing vouchers for the children who have difficulty learning, but only because of the distraction of being taunted and/or embarrassed from not having decent clothing and/or grooming opportunities. We award our boys haircut vouchers and our girl’s hair vouchers. C.O.D. is not only a mentoring program that caters to our boys we also have a prison aftercare program that helps those with non-violent offenses.The men who have proven by their behavior while being incarcerated that they have had a change of heart and want another opportunity to return as a productive citizen.

 

These individuals need money for housing, tools and for training. We purchase houses and refurbish them with our returning citizens who may have selected a vocational program in the category of carpentry, plumbing, electrician, roofing, cement masonry or heating and cooling. With these vocational programs active, we can save our cities thousands of dollars by repairing a lot of these abandoned and vacant properties that can be made into homes for the returning citizens, homeless teenagers and more importantly for our displaced veterans and citizens who may have lost a job or a house due to our troubling economy. Bottomline is this your funding will help keep you and your family safer by assisting those mentors and journeymen with the tools they're going to need to instill as well as provide consistent confidence in our boys that will challenge todays peer pressure that encourages disregarding and disrespecting authority at almost every level.
